Alyssa J. Wang

Department of East Asian Studies

Alyssa Wang is a Ph.D. student in the Department of East Asian Studies. Her research interests include Modern Chinese History, History of Medicine, Labor History, Traditional Chinese Religion, and Gender and Sexuality Studies. Her most recent research explores how medical modernization transformed the lives of ordinary individuals, especially women and sexual minorities, from the time of Xinhai Revolution to the end of World War II.

Prior to Princeton, Alyssa received her B.A. in History from the University of Chicago. She received her M.A. in East Asian Studies from the University of Virginia, with a thesis that focused on how Republican reformers utilized the notion of an ideal female body as a means of promoting their own social agendas.
