Executive Committee

The Executive Committee are regular full-time Princeton University faculty (Assistant, Associate, and Full professors) who are appointed by the Dean of the Faculty and serve as the governing body of the unit. This is the only category of members who vote, are authorized to set policy, and make decisions regarding faculty hiring and appointments. In some instances, senior lecturers may be included in this category, upon approval by the Office of the Dean of the Faculty. Committee members normally serve four-year terms unless they are recommended by the director for term extensions.

Associated Faculty

Associated Faculty status is awarded by vote of the tenured members of GSS to individuals in other units to recognize their close scholarly and curricular interests with the program and are free to participate fully in all its activities. Associated faculty status is normally awarded on a term basis and reviewed periodically to ensure that the mutual interests of the department and the faculty member remain sufficiently strong to merit that status.

Lecturers

The rank of Lecturer is accorded to individuals participating in instructional programs of the University on either a part-time or full-time basis but whose appointment falls outside the four regular faculty ranks (Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Instructor). Lecturers are no less important, however, to the curricular offerings and core teaching responsibilities of GSS and the University more broadly.

Lecturer in Gender and Sexuality Studies
Caroline Matas
