Sara Howard Appointed Librarian for Gender & Sexuality Studies
August 24, 2016

Princeton University Library is very pleased to announce the appointment of our new Librarian for Reference & Research Services and Gender & Sexuality Studies. Sara Howard comes to Princeton from her position as Reference Librarian for the Social Sciences at Wesleyan University, a position she has held since 2014. At Wesleyan, she was also the library’s liaison and selector for Feminist, Gender & Sexuality Studies. Sara is completing an MA in Liberal Studies with Concentration in Sociology and Women’s Studies from The City University of New York this December, and holds an MLIS, with Certificate in Archives and Preservation of Cultural Materials, also from CUNY.  Her BA in Sociology is from Mills College, Oakland, CA.

Sara is active in national professional library organizations and recently received an ACRL Travel Award to attend the 2016 National Diversity in Libraries Conference in Los Angeles later in August.

At Princeton, Sara will be working closely with our general reference librarians to develop and provide reference and outreach services for patrons, and with the Firestone Reference Desk students and staff. She will select for and manage the Firestone Reference Collection and work with subject specialists to develop the general reference collection. Sara will also serve as subject specialist and selector for Gender and Sexuality Studies and as liaison to the Program for Gender and Sexuality Studies faculty and students, and participate in research consultation and bibliographic instruction. Her office and contact information will be announced later. We are eagerly looking forward to having Sara with us at Princeton.
