GSS congratulates Professor Tera W. Hunter, whose book Bound in Wedlock: Slave and Free Black Marriage in the Nineteenth Century (Belknap Press, 2017) has been awarded two major awards by the American Historical Association: the Joan Kelly Memorial Prize (for women’s history and/or feminist theory) and the Littleton-Griswold Prize (in US law and society). Hunter is a Professor of History and African American Studies and an Executive Committee faculty member in the Program in Gender and Sexuality Studies.
