Jack Halberstam is Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University. A groundbreaking scholar of queer theory, cultural studies, and transgender identity, Prof. Halberstam’s books include Female Masculinity (Duke, 1998), In A Queer Time and Place (NYU, 2005), The Queer Art of Failure (Duke, 2011) and Gaga Feminism: Sex, Gender, and the End of Normal(Beacon, 2012). His latest book, which we are highlighting at his talk, is Trans*: A Quick and Quirky Account of Gender Variability (California, 2017).
